How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

UK Pakistan Chamber of Commerce & Industry ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and your rights under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

We are the data controller for the personal data you provide to us. You can contact us at [email protected] or by post at London Head Office, United Kingdom.

2. Information we collect

  • Account & membership data: name, email address, password (stored encrypted), phone, city, company, profession and profile details you choose to add.
  • Business membership data: business name, industry, address, website and contact details, and the membership tier you select.
  • Payment data: membership and advertising payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your card details — Stripe handles them under its own security standards. We keep a record of the amount, date and a receipt/invoice.
  • Usage data: basic technical information (IP address, browser) needed to keep the site secure and working.

3. How we use your data

  • To create and manage your membership account and verify your email.
  • To publish your business or member listing in our directories (only where you have opted in).
  • To process payments and issue membership certificates and invoices.
  • To send service messages (renewal reminders, verification codes) and, where you agree, Chamber news and event updates.
  • To meet our legal and accounting obligations.

4. Lawful bases

We rely on contract (to provide the membership you sign up for), consent (for marketing emails and public directory listing, which you can withdraw at any time), legitimate interests (to run and secure the Chamber), and legal obligation (to keep financial records).

5. Sharing your data

We share data only with service providers who help us operate — for example Stripe (payments) and our email provider (SMTP2GO) — and only as needed. We never sell your personal data. Information you choose to publish in the directory is publicly visible.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to our use of your data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email us at [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. Data retention & security

We keep your data for as long as your membership is active and as required for legal and accounting purposes, then delete or anonymise it. We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption of passwords and secure payment processing — to protect your data.
